Read our 5 top tips below to creating the perfect Al Fresco vibe!

Have a tidy up

I am sure your garden has never received as much TLC as it has in the many lockdowns, but after the rainy weather and the relaxing of restrictions filling up your diary and time, its worth getting it looking tip top before starting to get people over.

Spending time in your garden is a great way to improve your mood, and getting your hands dirty is a great way to feeling connected to nature. So get weeding those flowerbeds, sweeping that path and scrubbing down that table!

Lighting

One of the best things about summer must be the gorgeous light we get, and as June holds the longest day of the year, known as summer solstice, lighting in key to a al fresco dinner. As the light turns dusky and your guests start to mistake the salt for the pepper, its time to bring out some candles.

We love the spiral candles we are including in this months box from the Scandinavian power house HAY. As much art as candles, these colourful sculptural beauties will add not only a gorgeous flickering light to your table but also make a bold statement with their appearance. These are the type of candles that don’t even need to be lit!

Ambience

Getting on a crackin’ playlist is a great way to set the tone for the evening. With the chances of festivals this summer becoming less and less likely, why not create your own little festival with a playlist to suit every mood, and to get your guests groovin’ by the end of the night!

Decoration

Decorating your table is one of the easiest ways to make an evening special, and is a really fun and personal way to show off your own style. At Mind, Body & Soil we are obviously mad about plants and think a floral/ planty arrangement is a great way at incorporating nature int your decoration, but also as a easy way to bring colour and scent into your arrangement. Whether that’s dotted vases of cut flowers or a jumble of different plants on the table, let your imagination run wild!

We think our peacock plant is pretty gorgeous and with its lovely yellow ceramic pot it could be a great addition to your table!

Food

Keep it simple and easy, sharing platters are great at creating a sense of occasion but also allowing people the chance to make up their own plates of food. Think platters of salads, bread and pastas so there is something for everyone!

All of these things of course don’t necessarily need to be outside and if you don’t have a garden, don’t let that hold you back! Fling open all the windows or move it picnic style on a rug in your local park. The most important thing is celebrating spending time with your loved ones this summer
